A Witch is captured in a photo at the Clootie Well in Scotland

A pair of ghost hunters claim to have captured the spooky image of a witch at one of Scotland’s most atmospheric sites.

Lee and Linzi Steer of Project Reveal – Ghosts of Britain (GOB), were filming a live stream at the Clootie Well in Munlochy, just north of Inverness, when they caught the apparition on camera.

Hidden in the woods, the Clootie Well is a Celtic site famous for its link to an ancient healing tradition.

People who travel there will bring an item of clothing (cloot) and dip it in the well before tying it to a nearby tree in the hope that a sickness or ailment will fade as the rag disintegrates.

Lee and Linzi, who run GOB – the UK’s largest paranormal investigation team with 600,000 followers – said they enjoy coming up to Scotland every year for events and decided to visit the well.

Lee said: “Many years ago people would leave children with illnesses there overnight hoping the spirits would heal them.

“Some people say it is haunted, with many hearing screams and seeing strange lights. The difference between the day time and night time is scary.

“It was like we were being watched and surrounded.

“We kept on hearing sounds like bangs and footsteps but no one was there. We are very much hardened investigators and we don’t normally get scared but we found it to be a very scary and mystical experience.”

The duo say they didn’t see a presence while they were filming and were only notified by viewers on Facebook after the event, Linzi said: “We didn’t notice anything while we were live but we did sense the presence of something not so nice.

“From watching the video back and seeing the responses, it does seem like we captured an image of a woman which we believe to be a witch. Our fans and followers say it looks like a witch too

“We can see a very withered old lady, very small in stature with a walking stick with a cape around the shoulders a very white face, two black eyes with hair blowing in the wind.

“People say that the place has a link to witches with some stating that witches are who put the good curse on the land to heal people.”
