U.S. Government Hid ‘Huge’ Number of UFOs from Public
Senator Josh Hawley, a Republican from Missouri, has claimed that the U.S. government has concealed a “huge” number of UFOs, or unidentified aerial phenomena (UAPs), from the public for a long time. He made this statement in an interview with NewsNation on Wednesday, following the revelations of a former U.S. Air Force veteran who said he had seen evidence of alien crafts and remains in a top-secret military program.
Hawley said he was not surprised by the allegations of David Grusch, who worked as the National Reconnaissance Office’s representative to the UAP Task Force.
Grusch told NewsNation earlier this month that he had seen fully intact UFOs, as well as proof of “non-human” entities, and that the government had hidden this information from the public and other parts of the government.
“I don’t have any basis to evaluate them [Grusch’s claims], but do some of the details that he’s alleging, do they sound plausible? Yeah, sure. They sound plausible, based on what I’ve seen this government do in other instances,” Hawley said.
He cited the example of the Chinese spy balloon that was spotted flying over American airspace earlier this year, and how one part of the government actively concealed it from other parts. “That’s what they do all the time,” he said.
Hawley’s comments come as the U.S. government is facing increased scrutiny over its handling of UFO sightings. In January, the Office for the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) released an unclassified report on UAPs, which revealed that there were 510 sightings in 2022, an increase of 366 compared to the previous year.
However, most of these sightings were categorized as “balloon-like entities” or clutter, such as plastic bags or drones. Only 171 sightings were deemed to have “unusual flight characteristics or performance capabilities” that required further analysis.
The report also stated that there was no credible evidence of extraterrestrial activity or off-world technology in any of the sightings. However, some lawmakers and experts have questioned the validity and transparency of the report, and called for more investigations and hearings on the UFO phenomenon.
One of them is Sean M. Kirkpatrick, the director of the Pentagon’s All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO), which is tasked with investigating UAPs. In April, Kirkpatrick told a Senate meeting that his office was looking into 650 potential UFO cases, and that some of them were “truly anomalous.”
He also declassified several videos of UAPs that showed objects moving at high speeds and performing maneuvers that defied physics. However, he maintained that there was no proof of aliens or their crafts.
Hawley said he was not satisfied with the government’s response to the UFO issue, and that he wanted more transparency and accountability. He said he was concerned about the national security implications of UAPs, and whether they posed a threat to American interests.
He also said he was curious about the possibility of life beyond Earth, and whether humans had ever encountered it. “I think it’s something that we ought to know more about,” he said.
