The Pentagon’s UFO office has obtained funding for another full year
A Department of Defense office that investigates unidentified flying objects and other anomalies will receive full funding, according to lawmakers in Washington.
The All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office was funded in the Senate Armed Services Committee’s version of the National Defense Authorization Act for fiscal 2024, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand announced last week.
“As our adversaries become more aggressive and as incidents like the Chinese spy balloon occur, we need to ensure that we have strong awareness of the air domain over our country and around our forces abroad,” Ms. Gillibrand, a Democrat from New York, said in a statement.
Ms. Gillibrand and Sen. Marco Rubio, a Republican from Florida, led a bipartisan effort to secure the funding for the office after the previous year’s NDAA did not provide enough money. She said it was a national security issue.
“The office will help us integrate and resolve threats and hazards to the U.S., while also increasing transparency to the public and reducing the stigma around this topic of high interest,” Ms. Gillibrand said.
The office will also enhance data sharing between the Pentagon and the intelligence community to address security and health issues related to UAP events, Ms. Gillibrand’s office said.
The exact amount of funding for the office was not disclosed Wednesday because the budget is classified.
